You never know when you will need to be prepared for a trauma situation, natural disaster, or active violence threat. IT'S TIME TO GET PREPARED AND TAKE CONTROL DURING A TRAUMATIC EVENT!
3 QUICK ACTIONS CAN SAVE A LIFE | #1 CAUSE OF PREVENTABLE DEATH IS BLEEDING | LEARN HOW TO STOP THE BLEED
Did you know someone who is severely bleeding can bleed to death in as little as five (5) minutes? That is why bleeding control, keeping the blood inside the body, is so important and the main purpose of Stop the Bleed training. Through the Stop the Bleed training, the Medical Reserve Corps is empowering individuals and organizations to save lives. Outcomes to traumatic events must be improved by teaching medical skills and a framework to employ them. This will improve the rate of response time to life threatening injuries, so we can assist in saving lives before help arrives.
Hands-on training will cover:
- Scene awareness and personal response
- Your response before EMS response arrives
- Tourniquet use and application
- Stop the bleed pressure and wound packing
- Sucking chest wounds and wound chest seals
- Rapid bystander trauma assessment
- Improvised situation in an emergency
NO CHARGE TO ATTEND. LOCATION OF EVENT TO BE PROVIDED UPON REGISTRATION - QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT DEBBIE, MRC@SBCMS.ORG.
Presented by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) through a grant from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).
The MRC is a medical volunteer unit created by the San Bernardino County Medical Society and housed within the County Sheriff's Volunteer Forces Unit. The mission of the MRC is to supplement the local healthcare systems during emergencies or planned events in San Bernardino County. We achieve this by recruiting and training volunteer medical and non-medical professionals and organizing them to assist effectively and efficiently in the management of catastrophic events and civil defense situations as may be called for. Learn more about becoming a volunter by visiting the Medical Reserve Corps website or by contacting Debbie Long, the MRC Coordinator, at dlong@inlandwellness.org or (909) 273-6000 x105.
