DIFFICULT PATIENT RELATIONSHIPS: REHABILITATE VS. TERMIANTE
Live CME Activity – Wednesday, June 7, 2023 | 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Patient relationships that become challenging, disruptive and, at worst, violent can pose liability risks for physicians, staff, and other healthcare professionals. Patient safety and quality of care may also be negatively impacted. Identifying factors that may contribute to complex and challenging patient interactions, while utilizing concepts to improve communication, helps foster rehabilitation of the patient-provider relationship. These concepts also assist in determining if termination of the patient relationship is necessary. This program provides an overview of difficult interaction scenarios, the factors that can influence behaviors, and strategies for de-escalation and improved patient-healthcare professional interactions when faced with these conflicts.
This live educational activity will support your ability to:
- Recognize associated risks with difficult and challenging patient interactions.
- Identify factors that may trigger disruptive behaviors.
- Utilize concepts for conflict de-escalation and/or patient relationship termination when appropriate.
- Develop guidelines for patient communication.
- Apply risk management strategies for improved patient engagement and patient safety.
